Proposed Innovative Integrated Teacher Education Programme at CVV

Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) is a Deemed-to-be-University in the 'de novo' category, started in 2016, the centenary year of the inspirational Visionary and Founder of Chinmaya Mission, and renowned Vedantic master and teacher par excellence, Swami Chinmayananda. CVV, with its headquarters at Chinmaya International Foundation (CLICK HERE FOR CONTACT DETAILS), has been established as a torchbearer for the preservation of Indian cultural heritage and its knowledge traditions through higher education. CVV has received the Letter of Intent (LOI) from Southern Regional Committee (https://ncte.gov.in/Website/SRC.aspx) of NCTE to work on the requirements for recognition of the programme.

About the Innovative Integrated Teacher Education Programme
The proposed Innovative Four-Year Integrated Teacher Education programme (B.Sc. B.Ed. in Mathematics and B.A. B.Ed. in English/ Social Science) provides a unique opportunity for students to pursue B.Sc. in Mathematics, or B.A. in English Literature/ Social Science as a major, blended with the essentials of teacher education.

The theory, applications, teaching methodology and practice skills are imparted to the students to enable them to take up their first jobs in schools in India and abroad or to continue in academics for a higher degree in their chosen subject specialization.

Radha Mohan - Professor & HOD
Dr. Radha Subramanyam brings with her over three decades of experience in Educational teaching Programs. She holds a Master’s in Education and Physics streams and a Doctorate Degree in Education. She also holds a Diploma in Technical Writing from SA International Simon Fraser University, Canada. She was a UGC JRF Fellow at Department of Education, University of Madras 1985-87. She was a gold medallist in IGNOU for Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education during 1999. She also holds a Diploma in System Analysis and Data Processing from Annamalai University. Formerly, she was the Head of the Institutions of a renowned Educational College in Chennai. 
Her research interest includes Embedding Technology in Teacher Education, Multilevel Models of School Effectiveness, Knowledge Management system in teacher Education, Innovative methods in Education program through Web-Based Resources, etc. 
She was nominated to The American Biographical Institute International Women’s Review Board in April 2008. She was selected for the inclusion in the "Asian/ American Who’s Who" Volume V. She was also nominated to Great Women of the 21st Century – American Biographical Institute, Inc. Raleigh, North Carolina, United States.

Leela Ramamurthy - Assistant Professor

Dr. Leela Ramamurthy brings with her over two & a half decades of experience in Educational teaching Programs. She holds a Masters and M. Phil in Education stream and a Doctorate Degree in Learning Disabilities Dyslexia. She also holds a Diploma in School Management from Madras University. Formerly, she headed many leading Educational institutions in Chennai & Cochin.


Her research interest includes Teacher Education Techniques and Counselling for Behavioural problems and learning disabilities, Acupressure therapy using for Depression and Emotional disturbances and Learning Disability Children. She has initiated many innovative ideas in thinking skills & learning styles in education as well as techniques in improving value-added educations in classrooms.

Ajay Kumar K - Assistant Professor

Ajay Kumar is a graduate from Regional Institute of Education (NCERT), Mysuru. He did a six year integrated course in RIE, Mysuru leading to BSc.Ed. and MSc - Mathematics degrees of University of Mysore. He has presented research papers in various International and National Conferences/Seminars in the area of Mathematics and Mathematics Education. He has gained experience in teaching both UG and PG mathematics courses to BScEd and MScEd students of RIE, Mysuru. He is a resource person for several training programmes and workshops conducted by NCERT for in-service teachers of south India. He was also an active member in originating several mathematics related e-content videos for RIE (NCERT), Mysuru.

Bindusree A R - Assistant Professor

Bindusree A.R. is an educator with over 15 years of experience in teaching. She holds a doctorate in Applied Mathematics from Visveswaraya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka. She has presented research papers in various national and international conferences both in India and abroad. She has coordinated activities related to ISO accreditation process, IQAC, NAAC and NBA. 
She has organized workshops and trainings for faculty members and students in SPSS and R statistical software.

Pavankumar Satuluri - Assistant Professor

Pavankumar holds a doctorate from the University of Hyderabad. His research work “Sanskrit Compound Generation: with a Focus on the Order of Operations” is at the intersection of Sanskrit Grammar and Computational Linguistics. He studied Vyākaraṇa (Pāṇinian Grammar) in the traditional style from renowned scholars. He has served as post-doctoral Research Associate at IIT, Kharagpur on an advanced MHRD sponsored project. He collected the German corpus on compounds and attempted the writing of grammar for German compounds based on Pāṇinian rules.
He presented several papers in National and International conferences and has eight papers in academic journals. Currently, Pavankumar is applying the Pāṇinian framework to other Indian Languages with a special emphasis on the Kāraka theory and compounds. Pavankumar is a member in the review committee for the section on Computational Sanskrit and Digital Humanities in the 17th World Sanskrit Conference.

Saurabh Singanapalli - Assistant Professor
Saurabh Singanapalli is working towards his Ph.D. from IIT Bombay on ‘Understanding the use of image prompts to teach narrative writing to young second-language learners of English’. He holds an M.Phil. in English Language Education, and also an M.A in English (Media and Communication), from the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad.
His primary interest and present work are in English Language Teaching, and also worked professionally as a language trainer, translator, and interpreter for Spanish and French, and as an e-learning content and materials designer. The other research areas that interest him include media adaptation studies, and storytelling and narratives. He is particularly interested in visual narratives and pictorial representations of stories, especially in the form of comics and graphic novels. At Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, he is teaching courses on English language and communication, presentation and writing skills, as well as elective courses on media and literature.

Neethu S Kumar - Assistant Professor

Neethu S Kumar holds an M.Phil. in English Language Education, and an M.A in English (Teaching of English as a Second Language) from the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. 
Her primary interest lies in the field of English Language Teaching, specifically in Materials Development. Her M.Phil. thesis focused on the efficacy of using songs to teach interrogatives to young learners of English. Her other research interests include second language acquisition, language assessment, and language impairment. 
In addition to teaching English to learners of diverse age groups, she has donned the roles of a Teacher Trainer, Materials Designer (language coursebooks and language lab), and Language Assessment Developer.  She has also conducted professional development workshops for school teachers and trained them on pedagogy and planning. 
At Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, she teaches courses on English Language Communication, Academic Language Skills, and English Literature.

Sandhya Shankar - Assistant Professor
Sandhya Shankar holds a doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for research with UGC-JRF in the field of Psycholinguistics. It concentrated on the cognition of time in children, the way children represent time and space in their language. Her graduation in Elementary Education focuses on Language and Mathematics Pedagogy. The course was an integrative study of human development, subject knowledge and communication skills. It included an in-depth study of child language acquisition and curriculum planning.
Persuing her interest in language acquisition studies, she pursued her MA in Linguistics, with courses including applied linguistics, semiotics and developmental psycholinguistics. She has published various articles in journals and authored a chapter in book apart from presenting papers in both national and international conferences. Since 2013, she has worked on research projects, including one on peace education with NCERT, Delhi and taught in different colleges in Delhi and Kerala. Other than academics she is interested in painting and writing.

Jai Krishna Sharma - Assistant Professor
Dr. Jay Krishna Sharma has been teaching since 2015. He earned his Ph.D from the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Sringeri under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Chandrashekhar Bhat, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Rajiv Gandhi Campus, Sringeri. He holds his masters in Navya Vyakarana. His area of interest in reserach are Vyakarana, Yoga & Meditation (Practical and Darshana). He has received duly yoga training from Swami Ramdev in Patanjali Yogpeeth at Haridwar. He has directly taught yoga to more than 10000 people all over India, in which more than 100 people achieved the most amazing results of health benefits and found new life. He served Sanskrit for three years in the Sanskrit Promotion Foundation of New Delhi. He can speak 7 languages; and can read and write more than 3 scripts. He taught Sanskrit grammar for two years as Guest Assistant Professor at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh.

Sudharshan Chiplunkar - Assistant Professor
Sudarshan Chiplunkar holds a doctorate from Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati, for his research on the Critical Edition and Study of Nidarśana Commentary on Kāvyaprakāśa, which is a commentary by Kashmiri Scholar Rājānaka Ānanda. He also holds an M.Phil. degree in the field of Manuscriptology from the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati. He has published several research papers and two Books titled ‘Mahākṣatriya’ and ‘Mahāparivrājaka’.

Teaching Sanskrit Poetics and Literature has been his forte. His research interests lie in three major areas – Sanskrit Poetics and Literature, Manuscriptology, and Contemporary Sanskrit and its pedagogy. Dr. Chiplunkar holds an Acharya degree in Sahitya from the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi. He has prepared study materials for Mukta Svādhyāya Pītham and for a Correspondence Course of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi. He was a co-investigator for the ‘Science in Sanskrit’ project of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, K J Somaiya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Mumbai.

Sudarshan Chiplunkar is a recognized authority in ancient scripts Grantha, Nandināgari and Śārada. He has participated as a resource person in several teacher-training programs, workshops and Vākyārtha Sabhās. He also holds an interest in various art forms like Yakśagāna and Indian theatre. One of the plays he has acted in has been telecast on Doordarshan Chandana. A Dance-drama ballet in which he has acted has been published as a CD by Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri.

Vishaka Venkat - Assistant Professor

Ms. Vishaka Venkat, UGC NET qualified Junior Research fellow in English, a Post Graduate holder in English Language & Literature is an Assistant Professor with us. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in English from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli.

Her research interest includes Indian Aesthetics, Political Cartoon & Humour. Her publications mainly focus on Conceptual Metaphors on Political Iconography, Theorising the effect of Political cartoons, Current trends, and influence of Magna Culture, etc. An Ardent Veena player she is also a trained Carnatic music vocalist and had represented her presence in various Sampradaya Bhajans.

Prabhavathy P N- Assistant Professor
Prabhavathy was born to a family of artistic lineage and started training in the Carnatic Vocal tradition at a young age. She then moved to Chennai where she was a disciple of Guru Smt. SugunaVaradachari and Sri TM Krishna. She engaged in academics in music at the Madras Music Academy and then did Masters in Indian Music from the University of Madras. Even while continuing academics she started establishing herself as a prolific performer in various venues across the country and abroad. She pursued her M Phil and finished with the First rank from Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, where she went on to do her Ph.D. as well. The research topic was a study on the Raga Saveri, tracing its history and evolution into its current form, its application in some forms of theatre, etc. Prabhavathy is active in the domain of concerts and mentorship. She has worked at Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University & Unnayi Warrier Smaraka Kalanilayam( Kerala Government-funded center for reviving Kathakali). She continues to do Performance, workshops, and lectures on Music.
She owns the Kerala SangeethaNataka Academy State Award “YuvaPrathibhaPuraskaaram’ 2010 for simultaneous contribution in Music research and performance.

Vidhya Thakkar

Dr. Vidhya Thakkar holds a Ph.D and M.Phil from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat and MBA in Personnel Management from the University of Pune. She has additionally undergone a Diploma in Psychological Counselling from IBMS (AP) and Diploma in Training and Development from ISTD, New Delhi. Her vast experience includes teaching Organization Behaviour, Personality Development, Human Resources Management etc., conducting training programs for Govt and Private Sector. Currently employed as a teacher at DPS (Whitefield) to teach classes 11 and 12, handling Psychology, Accountancy and Business Studies. A unique combination of strong academics, teaching experience, effective communication, expertise in dealing with adolescents and excellent inter-personal skills.
