A teacher in the 21st century classroom performs many roles: that of a facilitator, a care-giver, a counsellor, and above all, an educator. Yet, today’s teacher cannot merely be a generalist all-rounder. As jobs become ever more specialised, teachers also have to become specialists, capable not only of instructing, inspiring and educating the next generation but also possessing the knowledge and expertise to be considered scholars in their own right.
The Integrated B.Ed. programmes at Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) are aimed at preparing such new-age teachers. They will allow aspiring secondary school teachers to do an in-depth study of their chosen discipline (English Literature or Mathematics) and also train them in pedagogy, assessment, and classroom management. Through a combination of theoretical discussion, practical exploration and field visits, these programmes will ensure that they are fully prepared to meet the challenges of contemporary classrooms and to help their students to be the best that they can be.
