The residential 7-day Winter Intensive, ‘Gurukula Anubhav’ programme at Chinmaya Naada Bindu Gurukula (CNBG) began with much fun and laughter with an ice-breaking session. The curriculum for this programme has been meticulously designed by the CNBG Vision Director, Shri Himanshu Nanda.
Day one began with a whole group session by Shri Himanshu Nanda wherein he emphasised the importance of singing, the practice of long notes, awareness and selection of a bansuri. The session ended with guided meditation bringing awareness and silence into music.
The students of the Bansuri Intensive were divided into three groups depending on the proficiency of the students. The students in the advanced group started learning the Aesthetics of Raga music through Raga Marubihag. Shri Himanshu Nanda gave an intense explanation on the various topics related to saundarya in Raga music. The students also learned to compose in Matta Taal.
The students of the intermediate group were given exposure to the Thaat system and had intense scale practice in khamaj and kalyan thaats facilitated by the CNBG Bansuri faculty, Shri Kshitij Saxena. The students were also introduced to Raga Durga and breathing techniques. The students in the basics group were introduced to finger exercises, alankaras and breathing techniques by our 3rd-year graduation student, Shri Hariom Sharma.
