Special Talk by Former UPSC Chairman, Dr. D. P. Agrawal

On 19th September 2019, Dr. D.P. Agrawal (Former UPSC Chairman), an esteemed educational administrator and an authority on innovation and quality education, delivered a special talk on ‘Quality Assurance and Assessment of Higher Education’ at Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV). The thought-provoking session was greatly appreciated by the audience comprising of the faculty and staff of CVV and Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF).

The session started at 4.45 p.m. with a prayer. Dr. Vinod R R, faculty of the School of Contemporary Knowledge Systems, welcomed the dignitaries and introduced the speaker to the audience. Dr. N Jayashankaran Natesa Ayyar, a reputed educator and a mentor to CVV, delivered the opening remarks and invited Dr. Agrawal to commence the talk.

Dr. Agrawal provided a comprehensive exposition of the process of creating an ecosystem conducive for innovation. He presented several examples of the teaching learning process and recommended that teachers should facilitate to up-think and up-skill students, rather than focusing only on the curriculum. He also touched upon the importance of technology in imparting quality education. He suggested that universities like CVV should focus more on innovation and be a role model for other institutes of higher learning.

Dr. Nagaraj Neerchal, Vice Chancellor of CVV, thanked Dr. Agrawal for sharing his insights on quality enhancement and presented him with a token of appreciation. The session ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sandhya Shankar, faculty of the School of Linguistics and Literary Studies
