Treatment of diseases through classical pranayama method

Pranayama, an integral part of Indian Knowledge Traditions, has achieved international recognition for its myriad benefits. Dr. Jay Krishna Sharma of the School of Vedic Knowledge Systems at Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth elaborated upon a few of these in a demonstrative session on 9th October 2019. A scholar of vyakarana and a veteran practitioner of yoga, Dr. Sharma explained the various pranayama practices. Through anecdotes, he drew the audience’s attention to how targeted practice can cure common diseases including cancer of the third stage. He concluded by reiterating the importance of following a healthy lifestyle and food habits for achieving the best results. It was a particularly timely session for all in light of Pranayama now being a part of the life skills module in the UGC curriculum for all undergraduate programmes across the country.
