Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (CVV) and Chinmaya Mission Educational and Cultural Trust–Greater Cochin, successfully organised a seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT) on Saturday, 01 April 2023. The seminar was held at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala, Ernakulam, and attended by around 500 people.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Ajay Kapoor, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CVV, and Mr. A. Gopalakrishnan, Chief-Sevak, CMECT–Greater Cochin, in the presence of distinguished guests such as Mr. Andrew Vouliotis, Applied Artificial Institute, Deakin University, Australia; Mr. Saiju Aravind, Founder and CEO of Edu-Brisk; Ms. Pratibha V, Principal, Chinmaya Vidyalaya Vaduthala.
The seminar aimed to introduce AI and ChatGPT and its potential to enhance the learning experience for students. It provided a platform to learn about the latest developments in AI and its applications in the industry. Mr. Andrew Vouliotis introduced the audience to the concept of AI and ChatGPT and its applications in the real world in spaces like transport, healthcare, etc. This was followed by an engaging demonstration by Mr. Saiju Aravind on ChatGPT with specific examples that were relevant to the students and teachers. The seminar included a session on Opportunities for Students in the AI and ChatGPT world and the role of educators. Prof. Ajay Kapoor shared a wide-view perspective of the AI and ChatGPT world and highlighted the skills that are needed in the future workplace. Mr. Jagdish Moorjani, Co-Founder, CitiusTech, Dr. C. N. Ramchand, Co-Founder, CEO & CSO, MagGenome Technologies, and Mr. Subramanian Chidambaran, Strategy Director, Cummins India, joined the event online and elaborated on the opportunities available to the students from the industry perspective.
In the concluding session, Mr. A. Gopalakrishnan set the right context regarding Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and the mindset shift that is needed to leverage the opportunities that are enabled by ChatGPT. During the seminar, Dr. Sunitha Grandhee, Dean, CVV was felicitated for the award of the proposed grant from AICTE to become a centre in IKS by AICTE, which will enable the university to provide quality education in Indian Knowledge Systems.
Dr. Apparao Mukkamala, Managing Trustee, CVV, shared insights about ChatGPT in the space of healthcare and stressed the importance of sustainable living that is rooted in the Indian ethos.
On this joyous occasion, Dr. Apparao also announced that CVV will soon be launching the CVV Institute of Science and Technology which will offer B.Tech. programmes in Computer Science, Electronics Engg, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science and Mechanical Engineering (subject to approval by AICTE).
The seminar ended with a special interaction between the speakers and the teachers to understand the challenges that need to be overcome to help students get the maximum benefit from AI and allied technologies while retaining the uniqueness and creativity of the students.
