The extension activities of a university provide a link between the university and the community. Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) is committed to empowering the community in which it exists and works on the dictum of ‘Rising with the Community’. The extension and outreach activities of CVV are aimed at providing resource support to the community as well as utilising the community’s resources for mutual benefit.
As a prelude to the series of extension/outreach activities planned by CVV, Dr. Bindu M. P. and Dr. Pramod Dinakar (Assistant Professors, School of Ethics, Governance, Culture and Social Systems) participated in the Gram Sabha organised by the fifth ward of Edakkattuvayal Grama Panchayat on Sunday 7 February 2021, at 3.00 pm, at the Chinmaya Anganwadi to analyse the training/empowerment needs of the local community. Members of the Gram Panchayat explained the various schemes initiated by it as well as the schemes and policies of the state and central governments. The members of the self-supporting groups and micro-financing units under the Kudumbashree were also present.
Based on the results from the need analysis conducted by Dr. Bindu and Dr. Dinakar, the faculty and students of CVV will now render their expertise and support to organise awareness programmes in various areas like waste management, sustainable practices, positive parenting, utilising renewable energy sources, digital literacy and the like.
