Rotary Club of Piravom River Valley Celebrates Onam with 100+ Senior Mothers

The Rotary Club of Piravom River Valley celebrated Onam on Saturday, 21st September 2024, at Maam Auditorium, Piravom, with over 100 mothers aged 70 and above. The event was a beautiful tribute to their wisdom and life experiences, creating a warm and respectful atmosphere.

Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ajay Kapoor, was the Chief Guest for the event. Prof. Manjula R. Iyer, Assistant Dean, and Head, School of CKS, translated the Vice Chancellor’s speech into Malayalam for the audience.

Prof. Kapoor spoke about the importance of learning from the experiences of these senior mothers and how the younger generation can benefit from their wisdom. He also shared Swami Chinmayananda’s teachings on unity, empathy, the joy of sharing and caring, and the responsibility of the younger generation to care for those in the “vanaprastha” stage of life.

Prof. Iyer added that Onam brings happiness and excitement to people from all walks of life. The celebration of Onam is rooted in Sanatan and is also related to Kerala’s farming traditions.

The event was a touching celebration that brought together senior mothers and the community. The office bearers and members of the Rotary Club, people’s representatives, and Asha workers of the area were also present.
