On 16th March 2024, ‘Pratidhwani’ a collaborative musical event was organised by Dhwani Academy of Percussion Music, Kolkata, and CNBG. The founder of Dhwani Academy, Pt. Abhijit Banerjee is also a Professor of Tabla at CNBG. This was a joint attempt to provide opportunities to selected students, alumni and faculty to present short concerts for external audiences of Pune.
Among the day’s artists were Suhas Kumbhar (alumni) who presented a tabla solo; Athreya Gangadhar (2nd year M.A. Music Hindustani Vocal) presented a vocal recital with Sajal Singha (2nd year M.A. Music in Tablal) accompanying him on the tabla; Litesh Jethwa and Mehul Prajapati (alumni) performed a bansuri duet with Saichand (1st year M.A. Music in Table) accompanying him on the tabla; and finally, Dr. Tara Kannan (Assistant Professor, CNBG) giving a vocal recital with Dr. Atul Kamble (Assistant Professor, CNBG) ably supporting her on the tabla. Suhas, Athreya and Dr. Kannan were supported on the harmonium by Shri. Sudhir Tekale.
Besides showcasing CNBG, this was also an attempt at outreach, where a discerning audience is exposed to the quality of training at the CNBG campus of CVV. About 30 music-loving audiences stayed for the entire three hours at the Gandharva Vidyalay hall, where the concert was held.
