The Valedictory Ceremony of the NFSI 2019 brought to a close an event that had generated many ideas and led to much intermingling of research interests over three days. The principal dignitary at the event was H.H. Swami Tejomayananda, the Founder Chancellor of Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth who was welcomed with a purnakumbha.  A beautiful invocation was sung by Dr. Prabhavathy in honour of the Goddess Saraswati, followed by deepa prajvalanam by Pujya Swami Tejomayananda and the other dignitaries. Dr. Sandhya Shankar presented a brief yet impactful report of the impressive proceedings at the NFSI 2019: a total of 26 presentations in seven Technical Sessions on the topics of Education, Health and Consciousness and Well-being. Among the main ideas generated at the conference was a feeling that we presently lacked the linguistic terms in English to describe the concepts of IKT, and hence there was an urgent need to create new words for such concepts.

In the next part of the session, the best presenters under each theme were given mementoes by Pujya Swami Tejomayananda. Ms. Yamuna Harshavardana was first and Ms. Anwesha Bhattacharya, Ms. Sonali Shenolikar and Mr. Sudarshan Hebbani were second under the theme of Education; Mr. Gunjan Trivedi and Dr. Banshi Saboo were first and Ms. Nrithya Jagannathan was second under the theme of Health. Under the theme of ‘Consciousness and Well-being’, a ‘Good Presentation’ memento was presented to Dr. Jigisha Gala.

Prof. B. Mahadevan, the former Vice-Chancellor of CVV discussed the previous editions, that is, NFSI 2017 and 2018. The book of proceedings of NFSI 2017-18 was released by Pujya Swami Tejomayananda. Following this celebratory event, a vote of thanks was proposed by the Dean, Prof. Gauri Mahulikar, wherein she acknowledged the enormity of the organisational efforts and thanked each of the contributing teams in turn.

The session ended with Pujya Swami Tejomayananda’s speech on love, value and respect for Sanskrit. Through a series of anecdotes and readings, he stressed on the need for inculcating love and respect for this ancient language in individuals so that more and more people would be encouraged to learn it. He gave some suggestions on how this could be done and urged everyone to learn Sanskrit and thereby gain access to all its literature and wisdom. There could not have been a better way to conclude NFSI 2019.
