On 8 August 2020, Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) conducted ‘Meet the Seniors’, a unique initiative to provide probable students of the upcoming academic year 2020, an opportunity to meet their seniors and get a glimpse into life at CVV.
Our enthusiastic final year students volunteered for this initiative and made a panel of three representatives for their respective programme with a faculty member. The interaction was set-up online, on the Zoom meeting platform, with each programme group assigned to a breakout room. Each group would share their CVV experience and interact with the participants on various aspects such as the daily campus routine, faculty interaction, canteen and facilities. The informal interaction welcomed the participants to ask their queries freely and gain clarity.
This one-of-its-kind event received an excellent response with merely a week of outreach on social media, inviting prospective students and their parents to register. The planning involved multiple meetings with the senior students, faculty and the Admissions and IT department. The IT department scheduled a mock session to ensure everyone has functional internet connectivity and briefed everyone on how the Zoom breakout rooms work.
The entire event was conducted online and started at 3.30 pm as planned. The event was facilitated by Assistant Professor Neethu S. Kumar of the School of Linguistics and Literature Study, with a befitting inaugural speech by CVV’s Dean of Faculty Professor Gauri Mahulikar.
After the speech, all the participants, along with the seniors and the respective programme directors, were assigned corresponding breakout rooms. In these breakout rooms, the participants met their respective seniors. A few parents also joined to clarify their doubts. The senior students covered topics ranging from academics to extra-curricular activities, hostel life, internships and placements and other opportunities, providing an overview for the prospective students.
The session concluded at 5 pm with a vote of thanks proposed by Assistant Professor Neethu. Everything went off smoothly with efficient assistance from CVV’s IT Team. The event met its objectives as most of the participants and parents clarified all of their concerns and queries. All in all, it was a beautiful bonding session.
