Meet the Parents

The second Meet the Parents for 2018 and 2019 admissions was organised on 28 November 2020, to create general awareness about the happenings at Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) and discuss the Psychological issues faced by students pertaining to online learning. The goal was to build on the relationship between the University and parents. The parents were intimated about the meeting well in advance through the Office of the Registrar-Student affairs.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Nagaraj Neerchal, Dean of Faculty Prof. Gauri Mahulikar, Registrar I/c Dr. Soumya S. and the Controller of Examinations Mr. Krishnakumaran Thampi participated in the meeting.

Around 72 parents attended the function.  The meeting commenced with a prayer by Ms. Sreenidhi Sriram (Third-year B.A. Applied Psychology). Mr. Arun Krishnadas (Manager-Student Affairs) welcomed the dignitaries and the participants. In his address, the Vice Chancellor assured the parents that the faculty of CVV are the ‘University Parents’ of the students and that the students can contact the University faculty for any kind of academic and psychological support. He then talked about the importance of such meetings with the parents which help bridge the gap in communication between the University and parents. He further requested the parents to keep a close vigilance on the actions of their wards and to keep in constant touch with the faculty and Programme Directors.

The next session was a very cordial and interactive one by Dr. Satheesh Varma wherein he spoke on the importance of parents in the psychological wellbeing of the student community during online sessions. Dr. Soumya stressed the importance of timely payment of fees, and filling in the data required in the Student Management System (SMS). The Registrar also mentioned that since many students are yet to provide the communication details of their parents/guardians, it is becoming increasingly difficult to send notifications/information regarding the progress of the students to the parents/guardians. Mr. Thampi talked about the commencement of the end semester examinations in December 2020 and shared details regarding the tentative schedule and conduct of the end semester examinations.

This was followed by an interactive session which covered topics like LMS/Moodle, examinations, communication with parents regarding the students’ progress etc. The feedback from the parents regarding the programmes, activities and facilities provided by the University was extremely positive. They also appreciated the participation of faculty and staff in all the academic as well as co-curricular activities, as well as the teacher-ward system.

Dean Prof. Mahulikar delivered the closing remarks with the assurance and reminder that it is the cooperation between parents and teachers that can bring forth positive results in the student’s academic and non-academic performance at the University.

The meeting ended with a Shanti mantra led by Ms. Sreenidhi Sriram.
