At Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV), parents are an integral part of the education system. Meet the Parents for the 2020 admissions was organised on 27 March 2021 to discuss online teaching, first semester examination results and general progress at the University. The goal was to build a healthy relationship with the University and parents. The parents were intimated about the meeting well in advance through the Office of the Registrar- Student affairs.
Prof. Nagaraj Neerchal (Vice Chancellor), Prof. Gauri Mahulikar (Dean of Faculty), Dr. Soumya S. (Registrar in-charge), Krishnakumaran Thampi (Controller of Examinations) participated in the meeting attended by 62 parents. The meeting started with a prayer led by Ms. Lakshmi Sivaraman (first-year M.Sc. Applied Psychology).
The Vice Chancellor welcomed the parents and introduced the changes in the academic administration to the parents. He then gave a presentation on the new campus of ‘Vidya Prathistan’. He requested the parents to be involved in their children’s lives and to keep in constant touch with the faculty and Programme Directors. He added that, further to the directive received from the UGC, the University would decide on accommodating students in the campus, while strictly following the government guidelines on COVID-19 protocols.
Prof. Gauri Mahulikar spoke on the importance of such meetings with the parents, which bridges the gap in communication between the University and the parents and the importance of collaborative teamwork by the parents and faculty. She also stressed the holistic nurturing of the students.
Sri. Krishnakumaran Thampi informed about the first semester results being published and the progress of the make-up and supplementary examination being conducted in March 2021. He also informed the parents about the commencement of the second semester mid-term examination from 19 to 24 April 2021. He announced that the second semester end semester examination will be scheduled from 01 July 2021 onwards. He stressed the importance of completion of the Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) components by 15 June 2021.
Dr. Soumya S. stressed the necessity of adequate attendance and timely submissions on the LMS. She also explained the need for timely online payment of tuition fees through SMS. The parents were also informed that students will be permitted to visit the library and meet faculty when needed, on a case-to-case basis due to COVID-19 protocols in place.
Then followed an extremely cordial interactive session between the University leadership and parents on a variety of topics such as the starting of on-campus classes. The parents shared positive feedback on the activities and facilities provided by the University and also thanked the CVV staff and faculty for the exceptional efforts put in by them. Ms. Lakshmi Sivaram, the student coordinator for the upcoming CVV crowdfunding initiative for the new University campus, provided an insight on the fund generation and general features about the new campus and appealed to the parents to support the noble cause.
In her closing remarks, the Dean informed all parents to contact Student Affairs regarding queries for escalations. The meeting ended with the chanting of a Shanti mantra by Lakshmi Sivaraman.
