Vidushi Manjusha Patil, Professor and Guru of Hindustani Music at Chinmaya VIshwavidyapeeth’s School of Kalayoga shared her views on the impact of the lockdown on the art fraternity. Her bite was published in Sakal newspaper on 10 April 2021.
Here is a translation of the same:
“It is seen that classical music is often neglected. This is traditional music. Due to many restrictions brought about by the lockdown, big concerts are not possible. To make up for this some small scale paid, private mehfils should be organised. This will help the artists to survive and in turn the art form will survive too. The connoisseurs who really care for the classical arts should respond well to such small mehfils. The government should take this matter seriously.”
