Lecture-Demonstration on Manipuri Dance

A lecture-demonstration on Manipuri dance, organised by SPICMACAY, was hosted by Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) on 15th January 2020.

Renowned Manipuri dancer Shri Sinam Basu Singh, accompanied by his troupe, performed at the Adi Sankara Nilayam. This young, versatile artist from Manipur is an ‘A’ grade artist of National Doordarshan and empanelled by the ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations). He is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards such as the National Scholarship (Ministry of Culture) and ‘Nrityanjali’ the best male dancer of North East India.

The mesmerising performance accompanied by a detailed description helped the audience understand and relate closely to the art form. Exposure to these kinds of art forms helps the students better understand and connect with the rich heritage of India.
