Service is an important part of our life and at Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) we give a lot of importance to inculcating the spirit of service in our students. While CVV has had SEVA@CVV since some time, on 01 November 2021, CVV launched a wing of the National Service Scheme (NSS).
Dr. Bindu M. P. (Assistant Professor, School of School of Ethics, Governance, Culture and Social Systems) who is the NSS coordinator at CVV gave a detailed presentation about NSS. Prof. Ajay Kapoor (Vice Chancellor) launched the NSS wing of CVV. In his address he said, NSS at CVV will be an avenue for the students to stretch the wings of possibilities and exuberance to reach maximum. Sri. Lakshmi Narayanan (Director-Organisation Development) and Prof. Sreevalsa Kumar (Dean of Academics) gave the felicitation address. Sri. Lakshmi Narayanan said that NSS will provide students to learn the importance of man-making education and the NSS wing of any university is the connecting bridge for the society. Prof. Sreevalsa Kumar highlighted the role of NSS in moulding the complete personality of a student.
In July 2021, SEVA@CVV launched the Social Room for Study Group (SRSG) programme to provide support to school students in developing basic skills for comprehending Maths and English, and Life Skills. Acknowledging the work of the SEVA@CVV volunteers in the skill enhancement of students from the schools in the Panchayat jurisdiction, the Edakattuvayal Grama Panchayat felicitated them at an event held on 02 October 2021. It is a great honour for CVV that its students are rendering such yeoman service and receiving recognition for the same.
The launch of the NSS wing was followed by the felicitation of these student volunteers by Prof. Ajay Kapoor. Prof. Kapoor said that becoming a role model is not easy and it depends upon one’s perseverance and dedication to do service to the needy. SEVA@CVV volunteers, Rhishab Nair and Anaghasri made a detailed picture presentation of the activities of SEVA@CVV. The students also shared memorable experiences from their work.
