Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV), in association with the Central Chinmaya Mission Trust Education Cell, organised a 3-day online workshop on Art Integration in Education for school teachers in the first week of February 2021. The overwhelming response received resulted in another edition of the same being offered two weeks later – Kalasamanvayah 2, from 17 to 19 February 2021. Through five sessions in various subjects taught in schools, the workshop provided a platform for school teachers to learn and share ideas and strategies for bringing art organically into the classroom learning experience, as recommended by CBSE and NEP 2020.
Day 1 had sessions on art integration in Mathematics and Computer Science. On Day 2, the first half had sessions on English and the second half focussed on Social Science, Economics, and Business Studies. Day 3 focussed entirely on art integration in the teaching of Science. A host of experienced and enthusiastic educators presented their unique ideas for achieving this integration, which is truly the need of the hour, in such diverse subject areas. The series provided plenty of food for thought, and some pragmatic ideas for implementation in classes, for all who attended.
