Hindi Diwas- 2022

Hindi was accepted as the official language of India by the Constituent Assembly on 14 September 1949. Thereafter, provisions were made in the Constitution from Articles 343 to 351 regarding the official language. To celebrate this, every year Hindi Diwas is celebrated on 14 September by all the offices of the Government of India and private institutions. The purpose of this is to promote the language and encourage people to use it in daily life. 

This year, the School of Linguistic and Literary Studies (LLS) of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth organised Hindi Diwas in a hybrid mode from 8 to 15 October, in which poetry recitation, elocution (विषय: हमारी संस्कृति हमारी पहचान), song and essay (विषय: भारतीय ज्ञान परम्परा) competitions were held. Over 100 students registered for these competitions. There was exceptional enthusiasm among the students for poetry recitation with more than 40 participants from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Gujarat and other states of India. First, second and third prizes were awarded in all categories of the competition.

Dr. C. Jaya Sankar Babu, Head, Department of Hindi, Pondicherry University, was the chief guest for the programme. In his address, he expressed his views on the topic ‘Why the Hindi language is important for our career’ and announced the names of the winners. Dr. L. Sampath Kumar (Head, School of LLS) felicitated the chief guest.

Dr. Sunitha Grandhee (Dean – Academics), was present to encourage the participants and in her address, she spoke about the beauty and knowledge tradition of Hindi and Indian languages. 

Shivadi Mishra (final year, BA Sanskrit) and Kavita Verma (final year, IMA Vedanta) were the event managers and the prayer was rendered by Hridaya and Krishnapriya (final year BA Sanskrit). All four are Sanskrit students. The program was coordinated by Dr. Rajnish Kumar Mishra (Assistant Professor, School of LLS).
