The Dhwani Academy of Percussion Music, Kolkata, organised Pt. Jnan Prakash Ghosh Memorial Global Tabla Competition 2020, an online competition commemorating Padma Bhushan Guru Pt. Jnan Prakash Ghosh.
CVV student Dipin Das, 4th year Integrated Masters—Tabla (School of Kalayoga), participated in Group B meant for those aged above 16, along with 42 competitors. The participants had to video record an eight-minute performance and share it with the organisers. The competition was judged by Pt. Samar Saha and Pt. Arup Chatterjee. The competition was so close, the judges finally decided to award three first prizes. Dipin Das was one of the three winners.
Dipin played Peshkar, Chaturasra Jaati Kaida, Gath, Chakradhar, Tukda and Rav compositions in Taal Jhaptaal. He also played Teen Taal and compositions of Teen Taal in Jhaptaal (a concept of Layakaari).
The result was announced on 23 January on the website and social media channels of Dhwani Academy.
