First Chinmaya Pratibha Puraskar Awarded

Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth is happy to announce that the first Chinmaya Pratibha Puraskara has been awarded to Dr. M.S.Valiathan, the world renowned cardiac surgeon. The award was conferred during the University Day celebration at the Chinmaya Eswar Gurukula campus on 16th January, 2019.

Dr. M.S.Valiathan is the designer of Chitra TTK heart valve and the recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awarded by the Government of India. After a 20-year stint at the Chitra Thirunal Institute, Dr. Valiathan served as the Vice Chancellor of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Following his retirement from MAHE, Dr. Valiathan studied Charaka, Sushruta and Vagbhata, known as the Ayurvedic Trimurti, and has written several books including the well-known “The Ayurvedic Inheritance of India”.

The award was handed over to Dr. Valiathan by Prof. Gauri Mahulikar (Vice Chancellor, CVV), Dr. P. Geervani (Pro Chancellor, CVV) and Swami Mitrananda (Trustee, CVV).
