Finance Talk Series Union Budget 2023: A Walkthrough

As a part of the 7th finance talk series, the students of third year BCom Taxation specialisation organised ‘Union Budget 2023: A Walkthrough’ on 9 February 2023 from 2:30 to 4:00 pm at the Warriam Road Facility. It was organised as a part of the Finance Talk Series—an initiative of the School of Contemporary Knowledge System. The session’s Chief Guest was CA Ravinath R Pai, an all India rank holder, and a member of ICSI.

Krishna V. M. (second year BCom) was the Master of the Ceremony. Ms. Abha Mohan (Assistant Professor, School of Contemporary Knowledge Systems), the coordinator of the programme, welcomed everyone and expressed her feeling of fulfilment as this was the fourth Union Budget Analysis presented by the BCom Students of CVV.  Hrishikesh started the presentation with “Did you know” facts of the budget. The presentation of the Union Budget 2023 was segmented into three—Budget & Taxation, presented by Krishnaveni Varma; Budget & Finance, presented by Revathy R. Nair and Budget & Economy, presented by Goury S.

The session was quite informative and included discussions related to Amrit kaal, Saptarishis (7 priorities), income tax and indirect tax updates, support to MSMEs, infrastructure development, and steps for promoting education and improvement in healthcare and the  agriculture sector. 

Further, CA Ravinath R. Pai spoke about the updates in the budget that require special attention and those points which are beneficial for the youth of India. The concluding remarks were added by Dr. Ambily A. S. (Head, School of CKS). She appreciated the team for bringing up an elaborate analysis presentation in a very short span of time immediately after the Union Budget presentation by the finance minister.  All the BBA and BCom students and a few BSc Applied Psychology students attended the session.
