Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Swapnil Chaphekar (Assistant Professor, School of Kalayoga) on receiving a PhD in Music from the University of Mumbai for his thesis on ‘An Analytical Study of a Singing Style Evolved Through the Confluence of Gwalior, Agra and Jaipur Gharanas of Khayal Gayaki’.
Trained in the guru-shishya parampara from gurus like Pt. Dr. Ram Deshpande and Smt. Padmini Dandekar, Dr. Chaphekar is a Hindustani Classical vocalist trained in the Gwalior, Jaipur and Agra Gharanas. He holds three master’s degrees with gold medals in two of them. Besides being a passionate teacher and vocalist, he is a professional lyricist, poet and music composer too!
