‘Global mind, Indian heart’ is the mantra which CVV follows. And our students and faculty never miss practising it whenever they get an opportunity! On the auspicious occasion of Gītā Jayantī, a team of 21 brilliant youth – graduate and post-graduate students from different programmes and batches of CVV, from Psychology to Management to Sanskrit to Education– recited chapter 4 of the Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā at Śṛṅgerī Maṭha, Kalady, during the annual Gītā Jayantī celebrations and recital organised by the Upāsanā Maṇḍalī. Two of its members summarised chapters 1 to 6.
The team also had the opportunity to interact with and get the blessings of Pūjanīya Swami Chidānanda Puri ji, one of the most revered dharmic figures of Kerala, who was the Chief Guest at the programme.
In the evening of the same day, the team visited the Ernakulathappan Temple, near Marine Drive, Ernakulam, to chant the Gita. This temple has special significance for CVV as Swami Chinmayananda, the visionary behind CVV, used to visit this temple whenever he visited Ernakulam.
CVV’s Chanting Team is an initiative of CVV’s Chyk Club. Presently it has around 28 members from across programmes, semesters, and from both campuses — CEG campus, Veliyanand and the Warriam Road facility. 21 students from this team represented CVV at the Kalady and Ernakulathappan events on Gītā Jayanti. They regularly meet to practise for events.
Both the Gita Jayanti chanting events were a Chyk Club initiative led by Shri. Srinath Mohandas (Assistant Professor of Education).
