CVV Sanskrit Month Celebration 2019

The month-long celebrations commenced on 2nd August 2019 (1st day of the month Shraavana) with the invocation of goddess Sarasvati followed by an inaugural address given by the Dean Prof. Gauri Mahulikar. Dr. M. Sudarshan Chiplunkar, coordinator of the celebration, briefly discussed the significance of the occasion.

The initiation of the celebrations began with the efforts of the CVV students by writing the Sanskrit Subhashitas and the Sanskrit sentences which are useful in day to day life. Various competitions like वार्तालेखनम् (Report writing), भाषणस्पर्धा (Elocution), अन्त्याक्षरी (Antyakshari), वस्त्वभिज्ञानम् (Name the items), योगसूत्रकण्ठपाठः (Recitation of the yogasutra), एककगानम् (singing competition), ग्रन्थाधारितरसप्रश्नः (Quiz on a particular book) were conducted for students to showcase their talents. In fact, for the Sanskrit promotion and develop the conversational skill of the students, faculties as well as staffs, Dr. M. Sudarshan Chiplunkar had conducted 2 weeks “सम्भाषणशिबिरम्” (Spoken Sanskrit Class) to approach Sanskrit with lots of zest.

Sanskrit month celebration of CVV had also witnessed the super memory skill- based game called “Astavadhanam” performed by renowned scholar Cvv faculty Dr. Ramakrishna Pejathaya on 28.8.2019. Dr. Ramakrishna Pejathaya mesmerized the audience with his beautiful Sanskrit compositions throughout the session. The faculty and staff members of CVV, participated as Prichhakas (Inquirers). CVV felt honored by felicitating Dr. Pejathaya with a memento encouraging his scholarly talent.

On 30th August 2019 (last day of the month Shravana), with the valedictory ceremony of the month-long celebration came to an end. The ceremony began with the Sanskrit welcome song of CVV, composed by Dr. M. Sudarshan Chiplunkar and performed by the students of CVV. Dr. Chiplunkar, who had taken the charge of the master of the ceremony, invited all the dignitaries and audience to be the part of this celebration. Dr. Jayakrishna, one of the coordinators of the celebration, welcomed the dignitaries and the audience with his welcome speech. Dr.Nandakumar, Akhila Bharata Samparka Pramukh of Samskrita Bharati , the chief guest of the program, addressed the audience with his insights on the significance of the Sanskrit language. He emphasized how the audacity of promoting Sanskrit language across India can be initiated only by the young generation.

Swami Sharadananda Sarasvati, Acharya of the on-going Sandeepany Vedanta Course in Malayalam, gave an engaging talk highlighting Sanskrit not only as literature but it is the “Devabhasha” and one the of the great resource of all the knowledge systems. “People who know Sanskrit, there is nothing unknown to them. The present generation should adapt the methods to let the world know the power of this language”- said by Prof. Nagaraj Neerchal, Vice-chancellor, Chinmaya Viswavidyapeeth. The audience had also received the wishes sent by the Dean, Prof. Gauri Mahulikar on the auspicious occasion.

The chief guest was felicitated by the Vice chancellor for his lifelong contribution rendered to the Sanskrit with a token of appreciation on behalf of Chinmaya Viswavidyapeeth. The winners of the various competitions had received their winning amount and certificates. Sanskrit cultural events were conducted on the evening. The faculty participants of the Spoken Sanskrit class, presented a beautiful Sanskrit play along with various Sanskrit advertisements by the students to the delight of the audience.

The session was concluded with the vote of thanks given by Dr. Sushree Sasmita Pati, one of the coordinators of the celebration, which officially concluded the celebration of Sanskrit month.
