As our nation is reeling under the ‘second wave’ of COVID-19, a third wave of the deadly virus is now spreading across other parts of the world. The increasing number of cases and deaths caused by this virus continues to be a nightmare. In this context, the Edakkattuvayal Grama Panchayat and Thottur Primary Health Centre chose Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth as the outreach centre for COVID-19 vaccination from 19 July 2021, with the intention of maximising vaccination among the public. The president of Edakkattuvayal Grama Panchayat, Sri. K R Jayakumar inaugurated the vaccination camp. Other legislative members were present along with Prof. Nagaraj Neerchal, Vice Chancellor, Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth and Dr. Bindhu M. P., Assistant Professor, School of Ethics, Governance, Culture and Social Systems. Over a thousand people were vaccinated from this centre in July via vaccination camps conducted on 19, 21, 24, 25 and 30 July 2021.
