Comprehensive Placement Orientation Session for Final Year Students

On 14th February 2024, Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (CVV) Deemed to be University organised a comprehensive placement orientation session for the final year students, especially the BBA and B.Com. students, intending to provide them with information on job placements. The session took place in the auditorium of the Warriam Road facility.

Ms. Anupama Jims (Assistant Professor, CVV Institute of Science and Technology) welcomed the participants and set the tone for the session, emphasising the importance of being proactive in the job search process and encouraging students to start preparing early. She highlighted the various resources available at the University’s lacement cell, such as resume-building workshops and mock interviews, to help students enhance their employability skills.

Dr. Sudheer Babu Yarlagadda, (Principal, CVV-IST) spoke about the importance of discipline concerning job opportunities and emphasised the significance of soft skills such as communication and teamwork. He highlighted the need for students to start preparing for job interviews and internships early on to enhance their chances of securing employment. Dr. Yarlagadda also invited industry professionals to share their experiences and insights with the students, giving them a better understanding of the current job market and industry expectations.

Next, the head of placements, Mr. Joseph Reddy, provided an informative and engaging overview of the different opportunities available with various companies, focusing on the latest hiring trends in the industry. He discussed interview techniques and the job placement process, providing valuable insights into what recruiters look for in prospective candidates. Along with this, he gave tips for creating good resumes and stressed the importance of having a LinkedIn profile. Mr. Reddy also highlighted the importance of networking and building professional relationships, as well as the role of internships and practical experience in enhancing employability. He concluded the session by encouraging students to actively seek out opportunities for skill development and to stay updated with industry advancements to stay competitive in the job market.

The session ended with a highly interactive Q&A session which was informative for students interested in placements after graduation. The students had the opportunity to ask questions on various topics related to job placements, and the panellists provided insightful answers that were practical and useful. The panellists emphasised the importance of networking and building professional relationships as a key factor in securing job placements. They advised students to attend career fairs and industry events and connect with professionals on platforms like LinkedIn to expand their professional network. Additionally, they highlighted the significance of developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and adaptability, as these qualities are highly valued by employers in today’s competitive job market.
