CNBG Faculty at Central University of Punjab, Bhatinda

Dr. Tara Kannan, Assistant Professor of Hindustani Vocal, School of Kalayoga, CNBG campus, was invited as external faculty for a national workshop titled ‘Techniques of Swar Sadhna’ organised by the Central University of Punjab, Bhatinda, from 8th to 10th May 2024. Spanning over three days and six sessions of two hours each, the workshop started with enthusiasm with a small presentation at the inaugural session that was graced by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari.

The second day saw intensive sessions on various aspects of Swar Sadhna. Participants engaged in practical exercises and theoretical discussions, fostering a conducive learning environment and encouraging active participation and idea exchange. The workshop concluded with a performance by the faculty, showcasing techniques discussed over the preceding days, which was well received by all.

The presence of the Dean In-charge and Registrar added significance. The Vice Chancellor’s feedback emphasised the importance of inviting young and capable individuals as resource persons, highlighting the value of fresh perspectives. In the history of their University, this was the first time they had invited a resource person aged below 50 years and holding the post of Assistant Professor, for a national workshop.

More than 50 participants from over five universities, including professors, attended this workshop This diverse representation underscored the workshop’s significance as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. The workshop not only imparted knowledge but also fostered collaboration, contributing to the preservation and propagation of our rich, cultural heritage.
