Chaturanga: The Game of Life

On 11th May 2024, the Chinmaya Sankaram celebrations in Kochi featured an exceptional theatrical performance titled ‘Chaturanga: The Game of Life’. Written and directed by CVV alumnae Amruta HS (B.Sc. Hons. Applied Psychology) and Swasthika Suresh (M.Sc. Applied Psychology), this play was the collaborative effort of over 70 students and faculty from CVV.

‘Chaturanga: The Game of Life’ is an allegorical journey that delves into the internal chaos experienced in our daily lives. The play is structured around the four key aspects of an individual’s personality: the Body, Mind, Intellect, and Inner Self. It explores the conflicts that arise when these elements are not in harmony and the potential for growth and happiness when they are aligned. Drawing on the teachings of Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda and Sri Adi Sankaracharya, the narrative illustrates how these philosophical insights can be applied to overcome internal struggles and achieve a state of contentment.

The 75-minute performance captivated the audience with its profound message and engaging presentation. The play emphasised that our choices define our experiences as either suffering or enjoyment, urging the audience to seek balance and happiness through self-awareness and inner alignment.
