BBA Students’ Industrial Visit to Wayanad

From May 12th to 15th 2023, third-year BBA students, currently in their sixth semester, embarked on a remarkable three-day industrial visit to Thrissur, Calicut, and Wayanad. The purpose of this visit was to gain practical insights into various businesses and industries, fostering a deeper understanding of their operations and enabling the students to develop strategic thinking and business planning skills. The programme was organised by the School of Contemporary Knowledge Systems (CKS), under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Rakhy K. S., Mr. Jayesh P., both Assistant Professors at the School of CKS.

The first stop was Kerala Solvent Extraction Ltd. (KSE Ltd.), situated in the Koratti region of Thrissur district. KSE Ltd. specialises in cattle feed production and oil cake processing. The students were given a comprehensive tour of the facility, providing them with invaluable insights into the company’s day-to-day operations and the intricacies of the industry.

Continuing their quest for knowledge, the group proceeded to visit Milma (MRCMPU Ltd.) at its Calicut division. Milma is a renowned organisation engaged in the processing and production of milk and allied products. The students had the privilege of witnessing the state-of-the-art infrastructure and advanced techniques employed by Milma, enhancing their understanding of the dairy industry’s dynamics.

On day three, the group explored the vibrant entrepreneurial landscape of Wayanad, where they had the opportunity to interact with local communities and observe traditional livelihoods. They delved into the rich cultural heritage of the region while also observing the small business establishments thriving in and around Wayanad’s tourism destinations. This experience broadened the students’ horizons, exposing them to diverse business models and fostering an appreciation for the importance of traditional industries in modern economic contexts.

Throughout the entire visit, the students were encouraged to actively engage with industry professionals, ask questions, and seek mentorship, further enriching their understanding of various business aspects. The practical exposure and hands-on learning offered during the visit laid a strong foundation for the students’ future endeavours in the business world. Mr. Prithviraj Renjith, a third-year BBA student, served as the student coordinator for this programme, ensuring the smooth execution of the itinerary and acting as a liaison between the group and the organising faculty.
