Arjavam : A Clinic for Public Grievance Redressal -

On 29 April 2022, the National Service Scheme wing of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (CVV) inaugurated Arjavam, a public clinic.

Arjavam has been conceptualised as a clinic to support, provide solace and follow up on issues of the public to solve their social, economic and psychological problems by providing direction to the next level that they need to approach – executive, legislative or administrative. Arjavam, means ‘determination’. The initiative aims to inculcate a spirit of determination in the public and encourage them to face the challenges instead of escaping from them.

The programme was hosted by Dhrishya Pillai and Steve Romy (first-year BSc Applied Psychology students) who are also active volunteers for SEVA. The event started with a  prayer recited by the seva volunteers. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Rahul Sharma (Registrar, CVV) followed by the presidential address by Prof. Ajay Kapoor (Vice Chancellor, CVV). Chief guest for the evening, Adv. Anoop Jacob (Member of Legislative Assembly, Piravom) along with the other guests inaugurated the event. Mr. Vincent M. Paul (DGP Rtd. and Former Chief Information Commissioner, Kerala) gave the keynote address. 

Other guests present were Mr. K. Jayakumar (President, Edakkattuvayal Grama Panchayat) and Mr. Shiju P. S. (Inspector of Police, Mulanthuruthy Grama Panchayat). Mr. Vincent M. Paul was felicitated by Dr. Rahul Sharma (Registrar, CVV). Adv. Anoop Jacob felicitated Mrs. Sheeba Aneesh, nurse at the Apollo Hospital, who promptly intervened by giving CPR at the right time and saving the life of a youngster. Ms. Sheeba happens to be the wife of Anish P. S. , Assistant  Director-Physical Education at CVV.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by K. L. Meenakshi Nair (second-year BSc Applied Psychology), followed by the singing of the NSS theme song by the volunteers followed by the rendition of the National anthem.
