In April, the School of Kalayoga launched a series of webinars on Appreciating the Flavours of Carnatic Music. This initiative is aimed at helping music enthusiasts understand the basics of a select few popular ragas which common listeners easily associate with. So far four webinars have been completed, covering Raga Mohanam and Raga Revathi. The webinars are attracting participants from within and outside Kerala.
The participants are provided listening exposure to film songs, bhajans, simple compositions etc. in the selected ragas. They are also asked to share their listening experiences. They are taught a few simple slokas or songs in those ragas so that they associate with the notes and can resonate better when they hear songs in the same raga in the future.
