Anti-Ragging Awareness Session

On 13th August 2024, the Anti-Ragging Committee of CVV conducted an awareness session led by Adv. Niharika Hema Raj. The session aimed to educate students on the legal aspects of ragging and the serious consequences associated with such activities.

Adv. Niharika Hema Raj began by defining ragging and explaining its implications under the UGC regulations of 2009 and the Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act. The session covered the procedures to be followed when a ragging incident is reported and delved into the offences committed by minors, along with the legal procedures that follow.

The discussion extended to comprehensive offences, including those committed alongside other serious crimes under the BNS, NDPS, and POCSO Acts. Adv. Niharika Hema Raj provided an overview of the legal consequences for students involved in ragging and related offences, emphasizing the importance of understanding these regulations.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students actively participated, asking questions and clarifying their doubts. This engagement highlighted the students’ awareness of the legal repercussions of ragging and reinforced the university’s commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for all.
