Sri Swapnil Chaphekar, Assistant Professor (Vocal) and Head of CVV’s School of Kalayoga attended the International Seminar 2020 organised by Bhatkhande Music Institute Deemed to be University (BMIDU), Lucknow on 28th and 29th January 2020. The main theme was ‘Presentation and Technique in Indian Music’ with eight sub-topics for which researchers from all over India and abroad participated.
Hon VC of BMIDU Vidushi Shruti Sadolikar-Katkar inaugurated the conference with her keynote address in which she explained the purpose of the seminar and the importance of research in the topics covered by the Conference. Dr. Rakesh Dhar explained the philosophical principles in Indian music at the valedictory function.
The sessions included interviews of Rudra Veena maestro Ustad Bahauddin Dagar Sahab (Mumbai) and Dhrupad maestro Pt. Uday Bhawalkar from Pune. There were lecture demonstrations by Mr. Ehren Hanson, a tabla player and musicologist from New York; Bharatanatyam dancer Vidushi Sucheta Bhide Chapekar from Pune, a senior disciple of Acharya Parvatikumar and Kathak Guru Prof. Kumkum Dhar.
There were paper presentations by students and teachers. Sri Swapnil Chaphekar presented a paper on ‘Changes in Presentation and Techniques due to confluence of Khayal Gharanas: with special reference to Gwalior, Agra and Jaipur-Atrauli Gharanas’. The paper was much appreciated.
