6-Day IKS & Psychology Exposure Visit to Tamil Nadu

27 students of B.Sc.Applied Psychology (Hons.) Semester 5 went on a week-long exposure visit to Tamil Nadu (16th to 22nd November 2023) as a part of their course on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), which also integrated the psychology field visits. While day 1, in Chennai, was spent with Swami Mitrananda (Mentor, Chinmaya Mission Chennai) who explained the Indian approach to Psychology from the perspectives of Yoga and Vedanta, day 2 included sessions on ‘Mind-management’ and ‘Basic Iconography of Sculptures’ by Shri. Sundar Vadivel and Shri. Dharani Gunasekharan respectively. Days 3 and 4 were spent studying and appreciating the architecture and history at Dakshinachitra, Kanchipuram, Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry, followed by days 5 and 6 dedicated to Psychology field visits which included theory and interactive sessions at Sri Ramachandra Medical College (SRMC) and Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF), Chennai.

The week-long stay at Chinmaya Tarangini, Uthandi, on the shores of the Bay of Bengal, 30 kms south of Chennai, also served as a perfect getaway to rejuvenate and replenish in the middle of a demanding semester.
