Dr. Ravi Prakash is presently Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Amity Institute of Technology. He has a B.Sc. (Mechanical Engineering) Hons. Degree from IIT (BHU), M.Sc. (Engineering Design) from the University of Salford, U.K. and a Ph.D. in Materials from Cranfield University, U.K. He was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Bath University, UK, and Hartshill Medical Institute at Stoke-on-Trent, UK.
Prakash was at IIT (BHU) from 1975 to 1995, holding various positions. He served as Professor and Head of the School of Biomedical Engineering from 1985 to 1995. IIT (BHU) deputed
Dr. Prakash to the University of Bath, UK, for post-doctoral research and then to Hartshill Medical Institute at Stoke-on-Trent, U.K. under the Exchange of Scientists scheme of the Royal Academy of the U. K. and the Indian National Science Academy (INSA). He was further deputed to USA as Scientific Attaché/Science Counsellor at the Indian Embassy, Washington D.C. Thereafter, he moved to BITS, Pilani, as Dean and served there for 15 years. While at BITS, Pilani, he was deputed to Tulane University, New Orleans, USA. under a faculty exchange programme in 1997.
In July 2010, Dr. Prakash joined as Vice Chancellor, Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, Solan, Himachal Pradesh and after completing the term he joined Amity University where he has served as Director, Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET), Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Advisor (Engineering Design and Research) and Head, Amity Institute of Technology.
He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) (FIE), Fellow of Ultrasonic Society of India, Fellow of Indian Society for Non-destructive Testing, Fellow of the Society for Biomaterials and Artificial Organs, Member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), U.S.A, etc.
He has published a hundred research papers in international and national journals, Conference Proceedings, has guided over eleven Ph.D. scholars and continues to do so. He was Principal Investigator for fourteen sponsored research projects from funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, BRNS (DAE), UGC, MHRD and 3 consultancy projects.
