Prof. T. Asokan has served at colleges affiliated to Kerala, Calicut and Kannur Universities for over 22 years and another 15 years at Kannur University, in the Department of Management Studies in various capacities. During his service at Kannur University, he discharged duties as Head, Research Centre of Kannur University, Head of the Department of Management Studies of Kannur University, Campus Director of the Thalasserry Campus of Kannur University, Director of UGC – HRDC (Academic Staff College) of Kannur University and Director, IQAC Kannur University.  He has also served as a member of Board of Examiners and member of the Board of Studies in more than a dozen universities.  He was also a member of the Academic Council of the University of Kerala, CUSAT, Calicut University and Kannur University. Prof. Asokan was the  Dean of the Faculty of Commerce at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, from 2014 to 2016. He was the Pro Vice Chancellor of Kannur University from 2015 to 2018.

After 37 years of service, he retired as Professor from Kannur University on 31st March 2018. From April 2019 to March 2020 Prof. Asokan was the Dean and Academic Director of Institute of Technology and Management, Mayyil. During the COVID19 pandemic, Prof. Asokan was actively involved in online teaching of students of the Masters in Management discipline and from January 2021 till March he served at SNES, IMSAR, Kozhikode, as Senior Professor. Asokan was Director of Chinmaya Institute of Technology (CHINTECH), Kannur for two years from April 2021. 

His teaching interests include Financial Accounting, Financial Management, Financial Services, Financial Institutions and Markets, Corporate Security Analysis and Portfolio Management. During his teaching tenure he has successfully guided 12 Ph. D candidates, supervised project reports of more than 100 MBA students, published articles, and written chapters in edited volumes, served as PhD thesis adjudicator for nearly five dozen theses of nearly a dozen universities across India.  He also served as Chairman, Board of Studies and Board of Examinations at multiple occasions and member of Board of Examinations of other universities and also visited universities in Germany four times.

At CVV, he is Dean–Academics and Professor in the School of Contemporary Knowledge Systems.
