She is an academician, behavioural scientist, researcher, counsellor/ psychologist and author. She has been teaching Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Doctoral, P.G. Dip. Counselling Psychology programs for over 24 years. On the international front, she has worked at the international level at the Democratic Republic of Ethiopia under the UNDP program. And at the national level she has worked at the Globally Accredited Central Universities; the University of Delhi, and Jamia Millia Islamia. She also has shared expertise in the area of ‘Counselling Psychology’ at NCERT in its ‘International Diploma in Guidance and Counselling’. In addition, she had also worked at Indian Inst. of Psychology, GGSIP University, SCERT, Delhi, and AURO University, Gujarat, India as well. Her thrust areas are ‘Spiritual Psychology’, ‘Positive Psychology’ and ‘Counselling Psychology’, besides she has profound interests in Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, and Forensic Psychology as well.
She holds a Doctoral degree in the field of ‘Psychology’, dual Masters’ Degree in ‘Education’ and ‘Psychology’, Diploma in Educational & Vocational Guidance and Counselling, and Graduate degree with ‘Child Development’ as her specialization, from prestigious institutions like the University of Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia, NCERT, etc.
For the last 14+ years, she has been involved in research on ‘Spiritual Intelligence’, a revolutionary concept, which addresses major perspectives of Indian spirituality. This leading-edge work is for people who want to relate ‘Spirituality’ in their lives as a way of understanding themselves better and living more efficiently. She has high-quality independent publications in her account, has published many research papers in high-impact International Journals (including four in Scopus Indexed/ UGC, one in Web of Science, and three in Google Scholar journals). A book entitled, ‘Spiritual Intelligence -The way to discover our true-self’’ and a Psychometric Scale, ‘Spiritual Quotient’; both, the products of her doctoral research, have also been published. Two Book Chapters, viz. ‘Development of the Scale of Spirituality for workplaces’ and ‘The Spiritual Knack Model: A Model of Workplace Spirituality’ have been published in the book entitled, ‘Handbook of Research on Integrating Spirituality in Modern Workplaces’ by IGI global International Publishing Group (2022). In addition she wrote a Book Chapter titled, ‘जननी : A Progenitor of Existence of Humanity’ in the upcoming book (2024), by Sharda School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Sharda University. Above and beyond many of her write-ups have been published in prominent Indian Newspapers. Dr. Gurvinder Ahluwalia is dedicated and committed in advancing knowledge in Psychology which makes her a valuable asset to the academic community.
