Brief Biography about the presenter:
Dr. Satheesh after his Post graduation from University of Calicut and MPhil from Madras University started his career in teaching in Sri Darmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College, Ujire, Karnataka in 2008 and later shifted to Surana College (Bangalore University affiliated college with NAAC A grade) and Christ Deemed to be University, Bangalore. Presently he is working in the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Scientific Heritage, Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeet (Deemed to be University), Veliyanadu, Ernamkulam.
In his professional life, he has spent a sufficient amount of time in guiding and training Undergraduate and Master level students. Subsequently, he gained his doctoral degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology in the area of Advertisement Psychology from Mangalore University. He also have an additional post-graduation in the area of Human Resource Management from Kuvempu University, Shimoga.
He was a guide for MPhil and PhD program in Christ Deemed to be University, Bangalore and few MPhil scholars had successfully completed their degree under his guidance.
He has research interests in the areas of organizational behaviour, advertisement, marketing, and consumer psychologies, Counselling Psychology, Indian and transpersonal psychology and in the emerging field of Ecopsychology.
He is a consultant to a number of corporate and government organizations and delivers soft skills training programs, organizational development initiatives and employee wellness programmes.
Abstract
The presentation is an initiative to provide basic orientation to the Faculty members about the counselling process to facilitate them to provide psychological support to students as a part of Mitra System. The session is planned to begin with the introduction of counselling process and make the participants understand “what the counselling is?” and “what the counselling is not?” The presentation also covers the information on the basic skills required to do counselling. Brief detailing of the problem identification issues and the need of referring the student to a psychological counsellor, clinical psychologist or Psychiatrist also will be discussed.
