The School of Ethics, Governance, Culture and Social Systems is organising a programme ‘Proud to be a Teacher’, in celebration of Teachers’ Day on 5th September 2024. There will be three events as a part of the programme. Details are as given in the flyer.
Teaching, like every other tangible and intangible practice, has gone through changes over time, from the ancient Gurukula system to the Macaulay education in India. Macaulayism ideology believes that Western science is superior to Indian knowledge. Thomas Macaulay wanted to create a pool of Indians who would be able to serve British interests and be loyal to them. He also justified the use of English as the medium of instruction, and also the teaching of Western education to Indians. The same will be presented through an exhibition and a talk about Macaulayism’s impact on the Indian education system. The shift to education 5.0 which integrates smart technology and Artificial Intelligence was a revolutionary point in the history of education which too will be elaborated upon by the students.
