Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) provides world class education built on Indic wisdom. In this path of Indic education Śaṅkara’s contribution is priceless. It is known to all of us that this great thinker, believed to be an incarnation of Shiva, has consolidated the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta and revived it at a time when the Santana dharma was on the decline. Sri Adi Sankara established mathas in the four corners of India which aim at protecting and enhancing dharma. CVV considers itself very fortunate to be located at the maternal birthplace of Sri Sankara and is committed to discharge its responsibilities of putting some significant efforts towards the goals set by him.
Sri Sankar Vijayotsava Divasa is one of the major annual events of the University conducted in collaboration with eminent scholars and students from the field of Advaita. It is not an exaggeration to say that the words spoken by Sri Sankara still represent the tradition of India, and, to some extent, it has also become the hallmark of Indian culture.
This year, in celebration of the jayanti of this stalwart thinker and leader, CVV in collaboration with Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF) and Indic Academy is organising inter-collegiate events as follows:
Events:
- Special Lecture (17 May 2021):
Inaugural session and special lecture by Swami Govinda Dev Giri Maharaj, Treasurer, Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Trust. - National Level Vākyārtha Competitions (18 May 2021): Vakyarthas involve deliberation over a statement from the shastras. In an assembly of scholars (sadas), a profound aspect of a shastra is made by one of the members of the assembly. The rest of the scholars question and argue with propositions and counter propositions to determine the validity of the statement made.
- The Vākyārtha Competition will be on Advaita Vedanta and Vyakarana.
- Elocution Competition: Read and understand Sri Sankara’s messages and works and wax eloquent in Sanskrit and English.
- Online Quiz: An online quiz on Sankara’s Life and Works. Participants will receive e-certificates and prizes.
