In association with the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), the Bharata Society of CVV is hosting a lecture-demonstration with a concert by flautist Vidwan Shashank Subramaniam on 4th August 2024 at the Lalita Pratishthanam facility in Onakkoor. Vid. Shashank will be accompanied on the violin by Shri. Gokul Alencode and on the mridangam by Shri. Hariharan Sundarraman.
Vid. Shashank Subramanyam is a globally acclaimed flautist in Indian classical music. With a career beginning at age 6, spanning four decades and performances in over 50 countries, he has collaborated across genres with bands, orchestras and musicians. His achievements include a 2009 Grammy nomination, France’s Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2022, and India’s Sangeet Natak Akademi award in 2017. His innovative contributions to flute technique and musical styles are celebrated worldwide.
Internationally, Vid. Shashank has graced stages at prestigious venues such as BBC World TV and Radio, Radio France, Théâtre de la Ville and UNESCO in Paris, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Institution, Lowry in Manchester, Esplanade in Singapore, National Theater in Taiwan, and various festivals including Fukuoka Jazz Festival in Japan, Skopje Jazz Festival in Macedonia, Copenhagen Jazz Festival in Denmark, West German Radio, Tsuyama Jazz Festival in Japan, Adelaide Performing Arts Center in Australia, Fajr Music Festival in Tehran, Ravenna Festival in Italy, HelLorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. He has been fortunate to perform for several presidents of India beginning in 1992 for Shri. R. Venkatraman at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan.
A dedicated supporter of SPIC MACAY for over three decades, Vid. Shashank has presented over 1000 concerts and lecture demonstrations at schools and colleges across India.
