Launch of Project ‘Awakening’ – A Step Towards Fighting Drug Abuse

The Government of Kerala has launched a number of initiatives and interventions to combat the social evil of drug abuse. In an effort to do our bit, the NSS unit of CVV and SEVA@CVV is joining hands with the Government in these initiatives with the launch of project ‘Awakening’. A number of activities and events will be carried out with the support of the Excise, Police and Narcotics Cell. Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ernakulam, will provide the venue for conducting these programmes across Ernakulam.

Project ‘Awakening’ seeks to dissuade children from using drugs, instil confidence and train them in creative pursuits, to turn their minds from pernicious habits in a bid to spot and nourish their talents in arts and sports, thus saving their future from being wrecked.

Some of the events planned are:

  1. Awareness campaign for students and teachers of CVV and nearby schools, hospitals and other selected institutions.
  2. Campaign for migrant workers in their language.
  3. Awareness camps and counselling for children/youth suspected to be using drugs.
  4. Street plays will be performed in nearby towns to develop awareness among the public.
  5. Mime shows in schools near the CEG campus and Warriam road facility of CVV.
  6. Participation in the marathon organised by Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, Kerala, in January 2023

The project is being launched with an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme on 3 November 2022 where experts will train the students of CVV  to conduct sessions for the public and in schools, colleges and universities.
