Introduction:
Mahakavi Kalidasa is one of the greatest poets and dramatists in the world. He composed seven masterpieces in Sanskrit. These include three dramas, two epic poems and two lyric poems.
Part I will introduce his three dramas: Malavikagnimitram, Vikramorvashiyam and Shakuntalam.

Objectives:
- Introduce Mahakavi Kalidasa to the participants
- Discuss the constituents of a drama according to Natyashastra
- Enable the participants to appreciate Kalidasa’s rich Sanskrit language
- Literary criticism of select verses, mainly based on Rasa and Dhvani theory
Eligibility:
Any individual, of any age, desirous to learn Sanskrit literature by Kalidasa. Though the dramas are in Sanskrit, lectures will be in English, therefore working knowledge of English is necessary.
