About the Chinmaya Naada Bindu Gurukula Off-campus Centre of Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth
Swami Chinmayananda’s love for the arts and his vision for a cultural renaissance inspired Swami Tejomayananda to envisage Chinmaya Naada Bindu Gurukula (CNBG), a residential gurukula for Indian performing arts, which was inaugurated on 13th September 2009. In 2017, CNBG took on a new avatar – that of becoming a part of the newly formed Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV), Deemed-to-be-University. The main campus of CVV is the Chinmaya Eswar Gurukula (CEG) campus, in Veliyanad, Kochi. CNBG became CVV’s off-campus centre and was called the CNBG campus.
CNBG focuses on preserving, promoting and propagating performing arts through its numerous activities like music workshops, festivals, personalised courses and competitions. The School of Kalayoga of CVV, which operates from both, the CNBG and CEG campuses, offers degree and certificate programmes.
Dedicated to nurture and spread Indian performing arts, and also to propagate India’s Vedic heritage in the process, CNBG offers itself as a campus focussed on teaching performing arts in a gurukula environment. Students enrol in the UGC approved programmes of CVV and have the unique opportunity of learning traditional values in the gurukula while working towards a university degree in their chosen field of performing arts. This unique blend of gurukula and university teaching provides them with not only extensive knowledge and training in the subject but also equips them with the academic qualification needs of today.
Nestled inside the 70-acre precincts of Chinmaya Vibhooti, the vision centre of Chinmaya Mission, which is located at the foothills of the stately Sahyadri mountain range in the quiet village of Kolwan, near Pune, CNBG offers a serene setting for students, performers, artists and scholars from all over the world.

Allied streams of knowledge are added to provide a variety of gainful avenues for students to complement their skills and increase employability.

The path ahead for graduates from the CNBG programmes
Life at CNBG: Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, the campus has spacious classrooms, mini-theatres, a professional dance studio and a huge auditorium. It also provides comfortable, shared accommodation, in separate hostels, for boys and girls. The two majestic temples of Hanuman and Pranava Ganesh provide spaces for meditation and performances. Swanubhooti Vatika Enlightenment Park is another unparalleled experience available on the campus.
Events at CNBG: In addition to the numerous avenues of learning, CNBG also conducts a variety of performing art events to facilitate improved understanding of the arts, as a means to preserve and promote Indian classical art forms.
Chinmaya Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme at CNBG
The CSR programme is a rural community-based development initiative that provides free training in music, to children from the neighbouring villages. It aims at adding a valuable dimension to early development through stimulation of their inherent creative and artistic spirit. Over a hundred children across thirty villages benefit from this programme.
